Volunteer with us

Weaverland Disaster Service works through Weaverland Conference affiliated churches. Groups are arranged by each congregation's own VS representative.

How a group gets connected

  1. Talk to your congregation's VS representative. Every participating church has one. They're the person who arranges groups and speaks to our office on your behalf.
  2. Pick a week. Have a look at the open dates . Your representative requests it for you.
  3. Wait for confirmation. Sometimes more than one group asks for the same week, so our office confirms who's coming. Your representative will hear back either way.
  4. Come and work. Lodging, meals, and on-site hosting are arranged for you. Your representative passes on the details.

What a week looks like

Most work periods run Monday through Friday, occasionally through Saturday. A typical group brings somewhere between six and twenty people, with adult chaperones travelling with them. The work is cleanup, repair, and rebuilding — no particular trade skill is required, though it always helps to have a few people who've swung a hammer before.

Don't know who your representative is?

Ask at your congregation, or email us at and we'll point you to the right person.
